Free Item Shop in Fortnite: What the Token Covers and Excludes
Almost everything sold for V-Bucks is claimable, with a short list of exceptions. Here is the full split.

Reading the fine print
The original wording from the finder’s pop-up is that you can “claim anything sold for V-Bucks in the Fortnite Item Shop for free for 14 days from activation.” The key phrase is “sold for V-Bucks”. Anything sold for V-Bucks falls inside it, while offers sold for real money do not. Insider Gaming’s wording mentions shop items and bundles. Because the Item Shop rotates, what you can claim depends on which items are on sale during the days you are active.
That is why the order of operations matters: look at what is coming up in the shop, then activate. The activation page covers timing, and the 14 days run from the moment you confirm.
What nobody knows yet
- Drop limits. HYPEX says it is unclear whether there is a limit on how often the token can drop.
- How scarce it really is. There are no official odds. The estimates are on the odds page.
- Edge cases. Reports do not say how bundles that include both V-Bucks and real-money items behave. If a listing is unclear, the safe assumption is that real-money components are not covered.
A simple plan for your 14 days
- Open the Item Shop and write down what you want that is priced in V-Bucks.
- Check each item is not part of a real-money offer or the Battle Pass.
- Claim the Sidekick you most want, since you only get one you do not own.
- Claim the rest before your timer ends.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get free V-Bucks with the Pirate Shop Token?
No. The token lets you claim Item Shop items that are priced in V-Bucks. It does not give you V-Bucks or let you gift items to other players.
Can I claim Battle Pass rewards with the token?
No. Dexerto and TheGamer both report that Battle Pass levels and rewards are not included.
How many Sidekicks can I claim?
Reports say one Sidekick that you do not already own. The reports do not say whether this resets or applies per token, so check the pop-up in the game.
Are the items permanent?
A finder reported that items claimed through the Pirate Shop are permanent, including Jam Tracks. This comes from a player, relayed by Dexerto, rather than Epic.
